Natural History
Habitat
Tropical dipterocarp forests on the islands of Luzon, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao.
Diet
Mainly tree-dwelling mammals (palm civets, monkeys, flying lemurs) plus snakes, large birds, and monitor lizards.
Lifespan
30 to 60 years.
Behavior
Forms lifelong monogamous pair bonds. A breeding pair needs roughly 100 square kilometers of territory. Raises a single chick every two years.
