Seat Forward · The Legacy Foundation

An empty seat is a decision.
    Send it forward.

Seat Forward moves tickets that would otherwise go unused — Broadway, concerts, games — to young people, veterans, and families who would never otherwise be in the room.

Tax-deductible · Placed through vetted partner organizations

    Why it matters

    Seats go empty every night.
    Access shouldn't.

Across every arena, theater, and concert hall in the New York City metro area, paid seats sit empty while a young person who has never heard live music, a veteran home from service, or a family stretched thin stays home. The ticket already exists. The night is already happening. Seat Forward closes the distance between the two.

    How it works

    Where your seat goes —
    in order, every time.

When you donate a seat, you authorize the Foundation to put it to its highest-impact use. This is what that means, step by step.

    1. 01

      Placed

We first offer your seat, through vetted partner organizations, to a young person, veteran, or family in our community.

    2. 02

      Matched

Select seats go to our flagship recipients — the stories we share back with you so you see the impact firsthand.

    3. 03

      Mission-funded

When direct placement isn't reasonably available — or when it would create greater charitable impact — we may convert a donated ticket into mission funding through lawful channels, with 100% of net proceeds going to the program. Always disclosed, never a surprise.

    4. 04

      Acknowledged

You always receive a tax-deductible acknowledgment and an impact update — so you see the good your seat did.

    Who receives a seat

    Chosen with care —
    never at random.

    Young people

Students and youth who would never otherwise see live music, theater, or a professional game — first experiences that open doors.

    Veterans & military families

Service members, veterans, and their families — a night out as a small thank-you for what they've given.

    Families facing hardship

Families stretched thin who deserve a shared memory that has nothing to do with what they can afford.

We don't hand out seats at random. Recipients reach us through vetted, community-serving partner organizations, and any program involving minors follows strict safeguarding standards, including partner background-check and chaperone requirements. We're currently building our founding partner network in the New York City metro area and expanding outward.

    Tax & the record

    Generous —
    and straightforward.

The Legacy Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 20-4557510). Every seat donation receives a written acknowledgment for your records.

Because the IRS asks donors to determine fair market value for in-kind gifts like tickets, we provide the details you need and recommend confirming your deduction with your tax advisor. Where a donated seat is monetized to fund the mission, that's disclosed in your acknowledgment. No surprises, ever.
